Brent Price

For a little white kid growing up in Oklahoma , dreams of the NBA were pretty grand. But that didn't stop Brent Price from picturing his life as a basketball star. Every pick-up game with his dad and brother was just another step in making his fantasy into reality.
All that dreaming plus a lot of hard work on the courts paid off when Brent was drafted by the Washington Bullets and then signed a free agent deal with Houston. "I was supposed to start with Sir Charles Barkley, Clyde "The Glide" Drexler and Hakeem "The Dream" Olajouwan," he says. "It was my dream come true. I thought all my work had finally paid off."
Then disaster struck. He was sidelined with an ACL tear in his knee – the worst kind of injury for a basketball player. Brent spent the rest of the season riding the pine as his knee healed. Just as he was ready to bounce back, disaster struck again. He tore the ligament in his other knee.
Brent is quick to admit that God brought him through the recovery and the next 8 years of his career. "Through all the injuries, God has carried me," he admits. "It just came down to trusting that He was in control."
His basketball career could have stalled out after his knee problems, but it didn't and now he plays with the Vancouver Grizzlies. "It's a testimony to God's strength in my life and His faithfulness to me," he adds.
Even though the NBA player's life is full of fame and fortune, Brent continues to pursue excellence on and off the court. "My plan is to walk with God 24/7," he says. "That's my ultimate goal – to reach the place where I know I'm with Jesus through everything. I want to go out and play my best for God. He deserves my best."
"There are still nights when I get nervous, thinking I'm too old or too tired from traveling," admits Brent. "Then I say, ‘God carry me out there. Lift me up.' I've learned that God is not just a priority. God is my life."
