I always believed I would play in the NFL. Lots of kids think that growing up, but for me it was more than a dream; it was a matter of faith.

Unfortunately, not everyone shared my belief. During my senior year of high school, for instance, my coach didn’t bother telling colleges about me. Thankfully, I earned a scholarship anyway, but my problems didn’t end there.

My coach in college didn’t believe I was good enough to play in the NFL either. He even withheld an invitation to play in a college all-star game. At that point, I realized the only way I would get to the NFL was through God. So from then on, I didn’t care what my coaches did. I simply put my trust in Him.

After college, when no recruiting letters or calls came, people started questioning me. What made me think I would make it? All I could do was believe, because I knew God was the one who had put this dream on my heart.

Now in my fifth season as a pro, I know the only reason I’m here is because God wants me here. Not everyone can play in the NFL. But if you trust in God and follow through on what he has put in your heart, I know you will succeed at whatever you try, too.
