Leonard Henry
As a child, I was a church going person because my extended family was deep into the church so I was brought up the same way. My grandparents were the backbone that held all of us together. My mother and father were very loving and taught me how to become a man. I knew that they loved me dearly and wanted the best for me in life. I played sports because I loved it and my parents appreciated the fact that sports helped to keep me out of trouble as well.
My view of God was that He was the master of all things; and, at a young age God became the center of my life. It helped to have a family that honored Christ in everything we did.
My mother past away in 2002 and this event marked a turning point for my life. I felt I needed to recommit my life to serving Christ more faithfully; and, I did. The death of my mom has been a life changing matter that I have had to deal with it everyday. I learned that there are things in our lives that we take for granted, expecting everything to stay the same with no glitches. My mother’s death helped me to understand even greater the uncertainty of life and as a result my life is changing for the better. I know that the Lord and my mom are watching me.
As for today, I am enjoying the blessings of God in the things I took for granted. Everyday I am blessed to wake up, talk with people, walk, and run like very few people can. I am still growing in my understanding of God. Sometimes it’s difficult to explain how I feel; but, I am gaining more and more peace within myself as I am learning more and more about Christ and his plan for my life. I’m a different man than I was a year ago; and, God has been good through it all. He is giving me vision, strength, and confidence, to deal with all of life’s issues. God is great all the time!
