Jeno James

Some people wonder how I can be so aggressive on the football field and yet still call myself a man of God. For me though, it makes perfect sense. Being a Christian is not for wimps. Jesus was tough, a warrior for truth. So were other men of God in the Bible—David, Joshua, Gideon—I’m just following their example.

That’s not to say being a Christian means beating other people up. But you have to be tough to be a Christian, because following God is not easy. Every day is a test. You’re surrounded by temptations, so the big question is always, “Are you going to be obedient to God or not?” How you answer that question will determine whether you stand or whether you fall.

A lot of people think being tough means doing things their own way, even going against God. But if God is the toughest guy there is, you’re just going to lose in the end. Don’t kid yourself: God is watching you; he sees everything you do. That’s why obedience is so important. You’re not getting away with anything anyhow.

If you were going into a tough football game, wouldn’t you want the best player on your side? I know I would. That’s why I’ve decided to team up with God. I encourage you to do the same.
