Mitch Lyons

Growing up, I spent most of my time playing sports. I wanted to excel because of the attention I could get through being successful. The satisfaction, however, never lasted long enough.

As a teenager, I started going to church and began to question God, death and eternity when two close relatives died. My rookie year in Atlanta, I went to pregame chapel because a teammate invited me to go. The message challenged me to consider the cost of following Jesus versus the cost of not following Him. It scared me to think of dying without having my past sins forgiven by Jesus Christ. That day I realized I needed Him to pay the penalty of my sin--death. I invited Christ to come into my life as Savior and Lord.

Aside from knowing I have eternal life, my life is different now. I can strive toward my goals without any pressure to perform for people. God is the only one I try to please.
