Brian "BJ" Johnson

"Growing up, my three brothers and I loved playing sports. In college, I remained disciplined and focused on soccer. God and organized religion were not a part of life until my girlfriend Ashley (now my wife) and my brother Matt began attending church. Curious about their spiritual interest, I also began to attend and listen to the teaching from the Bible.

I entered the MLS draft, signed with the Wizards and made the move away from family and friends. But in being separated from them, I faced some major changes.

Through Athletes in Action, I attended our team Bible studies, learned practical truths about Jesus and realized my need to make a personal decision to follow Christ. I prayed and accepted the Lord as my Savior.

I daily develop this personal relationship with Jesus, knowing my life has forever changed. Today, my focus and discipline have shifted from myself to serving God and being open to His will for my life. Real faith in Jesus has resulted in many answers to prayer plus a peace and joy with which nothing can compare."
