Rob Smith

One of the great moments of my life happened the summer of 1996 when I was named to the U.S. Olympic Soccer team. Representing our country in the Summer Games was a dream come true and a great memory. But as great as it was to compete in the Olympics, I have found something that is even more thrilling and rewarding – a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Don't get me wrong – winning games, scoring goals, and celebrating with teammates is still great, but there is nothing like experiencing such achievements while you are giving 100 percent to glorify God, knowing that He is along for the ride. Whether good times or bad, I know that God is there shaping my life in order to help me become the best athlete and person that I can be.
"Do you not know that in a race all runners run, but only one gets the prize? Everyone who competes goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever." (1 Corinthians 9:24-25).
